I’m absolutely obsessed with these shoes. I LOVE them. They’re by Dolce Vita #dolcevitababe and they’re probably the most comfortable lace up sandals that I tried on while shopping at Hudson’s Bay the other day. Hudson’s Bay is a new store to me. It’s like a cross between Macy’s in downtown Herald Square in NYC and a Nordstroms, but it’s the main department store in downtown Vancouver, so E and I have stocked up a lot of our new apartment items there. It’s got 6 floors worth of amazing goods from shoes to several levels of clothing for women, a mens shop, jewelry, housewares, accessories, makeup and more! But I digress…anyway, check out these beauties! Just gorg!

Fortunately I was lucky enough to get them on sale, at 20% off, so it was a total score! One thing that was interesting about this brand is that I’m normally a size 9, and those didn’t feel at all comfortable and were a bit big, but then went down to an 8 and they fit like a glove, so they do run a bit big. Once I put those 8’s on they fit my footbed so comfortably, and I was in love!

Here’s the link to them on their website, and if you sign up for their newsletter online, you get 15% off your order. They offer free shipping in the U.S. from their website. If you’re in Canada, like me, here’s the link to Hudson’s Bay where I purchased them. If you’re in Canada, you should hurry to get them before they’re all gone. As you know, shortly the fall shoes will arrive and if you wait too long, the summer sandals will be sold out. Been there done that too many times! I hope you enjoy these as much as I’m enjoying them. I get so many great compliments around town. Definitely a stand out shoe to have this summer!

Happy Shopping!

My reviews are in for the Beverly Hills MD Products that I purchased back in March! With our move to Vancouver, and setting up our empty apartment, it’s taken awhile to get our apartment furnished just right, so I’m happy to say that I’m back to blogging, so let’s get to the review, shall we!?!

First up, hands down, this is my favorite product of the three. It’s the Beverly Hills MD Anti-Aging Lip Enhancer. I absolutely LOVE this product because it does exactly what it says it does. It enhances your lips and keeps them moist. Without using it, when I wake up I’ve got dry lips no matter what I put on them the night before. I used to wash my face and apply a nighttime moisturizer over my lips, but I’d still wake up with dry lips. With this lip enhancer this this no longer the case. After washing my face at night I apply a thin coating of this to the top and bottom lip and then rub my lips together making sure the gloss gets over the cracks and crevices above the top lip. When I wake up in the morning, my lips feel full and moist. NOTE: Make sure you kiss your partner goodnight BEFORE applying this gloss because it is sticky, and I mean sticky, but that’s the point, it sticks to your lips throughout the night and into the morning. I’ve kissed my hubby with it on and you’ll get the “ick, you’ve got that stuff on” comment and who needs that! 🙂 It’s the sacrifices one makes to retain their beautiful lips 😉 In using this product I feel that I have a higher moisture content throughout the day and there is a noticeable difference when I forget to put it on at night. Definitely apply it at night before going to bed and not during the day! Overall I give it a 10/10. It’s on the reorder list, that’s for sure.

One other thing that I noticed about this lip enhancer which I really like is that there’s no burning or stinging sensation when wearing it. I’ve tried numerous lip enhancers/moisturizers and most of them sting and make me want to immediately wash my face to get it off, but that is not the case with this product. No stinging. No burning. No anything really, except that it’s sticky which is only a problem if you sleep with your head in your pillow…but who does that?!? Lol. I’m a back and side sleeper and it’s not problematic at all.

Second up is the Crepe Correcting Complex. Now this is intended for your entire body, but I’ve decided to just focus it on the crepey skin that appears on the neck due to the cost of the product. What I like about this product is that it seals in the moisture and you only need to put one application on. Apply a dime size on either side of the neck and massage in gently. I go all the way down through the decolletage area and let dry before applying my make-up. This product does a great job at keeping the neck area supple and moist, therefore decreasing the crepey skin appearance. Overall, I’d give it a 9/10. The 9 is because I have used other products that work just as well: Renergie Lift Multi-Action by Lancome (my all-time favorite line) which you can purchase here  and I also really like this product to target this area as well, L’Oreal Revitalift which you can purchase here as well. For the price, I think this overall body creme is expensive, so do your research if you’re thinking about locking in a long term price on many orders of this product.

Last but not least is the Lift & Firm Sculpting Creme. I really do love the fluidity of this product and I use it both in the morning as the base for under my makeup and and again in the evening as a night cream. It’s light and dries very well, and in using it under my foundation, it works very well and isn’t heavy. My skin type is dry, so the more moisture I get, the better my skin feels. I’ve found it’s eased my wrinkles a bit around the eyes, and gives my skin a glowing look. I really do like that it isn’t heavy and works well under my foundation. I’ve found some sculpting moisturizers to be far too thick to wear under my makeup and the lightness and effectiveness of this moisturizer is spot on. I give it a 10/10. Will definitely be getting a steady supply of it!

Those were the only three products that I purchased. To summarize the best of the three IMO was the Lip Enhancer, then the Lift & Firm Sculpting Creme and then the Crepe Correction. I hope you found my review useful 🙂

It’s amazing how something as simple as sauce can change an entire meal! Without sauce or a marinade, a bland piece of chicken, beef or pork is just that – bland! With it, it can transform into an amazing and succulent piece of meat! That’s exactly what this homemade Hoisin Sauce did for these pan grilled pork chops! I love to make extra sauce to use to marinate chicken for the next meal, or a beautiful piece of flank steak, but whatever you’re hankering for dinner, it’s great to have this sauce on hand as a marinade and a condiment!

My pork chop obsession dates back a decade to Nola Restaurant in the French Quarter, New Orleans. There, E and I had, hands down, the BEST pork chop of our lives. It was surrounded by glazed yams and literally, no joke, after stuffing ourselves, we had great plans for the evening and nothing transpired as we ended up back at our hotel room passed out in a food coma. They were THAT GOOD! Since then, I’ve been on a mission to perfect a pork chop with a yummy sauce and this recipe pretty much hit that target!

Look at these mouth watering pork chops covered in this fabulous sauce. In addition to marinading and grilling these chops in it, I then used it to spoon over the rice and veggies as well!

I saw this recipe in Bon Appetit (March 2016 issue), and knew that I HAD to make it. So yummy and lip smackin’ good with each bite!

I hope you enjoy this homemade Hoisin Sauce recipe as much as we have. It’s better than any bottled Hoisin Sauce with all of those extra junky ingredients added!

Instructions
  1. Rinse your pork chops and pat dry. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.
  2. Peel the garlic and finely chop.
  3. Add the oil to the pan, heat to medium, and add garlic. Stir for about 2 minutes until golden brown. Then add the soy sauce, honey, vinegar, sriracha and tahini and whisk till fully mixed. Cook on the pan on medium heat about 4-6 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  4. Take off the burner and use a salt and pepper grinder and give each grinder about 4-5 grinds.
  5. Take a 1/2 of your mixture and put it in a large gallon ziplock back. Add in the pork chops and zip up the bag, making sure you've laid it flat to get the air out before sealing the bag. Put in the fridge to marinate for at 30 minutes, making sure to turn half way so that both sides of the chops are evenly marinated.
  6. Heat your large skillet and remove the pork chops from the marinade. Place in pan and cook for 1-2 minutes until the chop is golden brown, then flip and cook on the other side for 1-2 minutes and continue this process until your chops are cooked to 135 degrees in the thickest part of the chop.
  7. Remove from heat and pour the remaining 1/2 cup of sauce over the chops so they're covered in sauce. Place your lid on your pan and let sit for 10 minutes so that the pork will come to 145 degrees before serving. Transfer to a plate. I use a large spoon and scoop the sauce and tidbits in the pan over the rice and veggies I serve it with.
Recipe Notes

The cooking time will depend on the size of your chops. If the chops are too thick, have your butcher cut them in half. I always have mine cut down to the size of a boneless chop because they get far too dry and woody when trying to cook a very thick 1" porkchop! Also, pork chops cook quickly, so make sure not to overcook them, as that makes them tough and chewy and you don't want that with this yummy sauce! Enjoy!
